THOUNAM

THOUNAM:
Botanical name: Cassia tora Linn.
Parts use: Seed.
@MEDICAL INFORMATION:
* disease name: cancer; eczema(unsagi laina makhal ama: a kind of inflammation of the skin): ringworm.
* Uses: Raw seeds are used as laxative(khong hamba yanaba hidak); in headache; constipation(khong hamba nungaitaba) and hytertensive.
;; leaves and seed paste is also used in skin diseases.

TANDAN PAMBI

TANDAN PAMBI:
Botanical name: Drymaria cordata.
Parts used: whole plant.
@ MEDICAL INFORMATION:
* dysease Name: Asthma; scabies; jaundice; dysentery; diarrhoea; fever; tonsilitis; sinusitis; pneumonia.
Uses: Plant is used in Phthisis( lok achaoba); hectic fever; dyspepsia(chaba tumdaba) and cough.
Hot fomentation(higa yeiba) of the plant can be epplied externally for muscular sprain.
The apical portion(pambigu matongi saruk) is used in nasal blockage; fever; cold; throat trouble and painful menstruation.:

ANGKOT

ANGKOT:
Botanical name: Calotropis gigantea.
Place: found mostly in the valley of Manipur.
Parts Use: Whole plant.
@MEDICAL INFORMATION:
* Disease name: Dysentery(eeton faiba); Ringworm; Leprosy; Leucoderm(angouba pakpa).
* Uses: the fresh leaves are applied as dry fomentation on swellings(apomba mafamda kangna ommaduna thamba).
The dried bark of the roots is an excellent substitute for Ipecacuanha(jholap oina sijinaba pambi makhal ama) in the treatment of Dysentery.
It is used in tootache; fractures and mad dog bite.

HA

HA:
Botanical name: Dioscorea bulbifera.
Parts used: 1. Leaf and 2. Tuber(pambi asigi maroo).

1. Leaf:
* dysease Name: Dysentery(eeton faiba); Eczema ( unsa gi leina ama, a kind of inflammation of the skin).
* Uses: Leaves are used as pain killer and in mad dog bite.
2. Tuber:
Disease Name: Ulcer, piles(nungshang); goiter: pharyngitis: dysentry: syphilis.
*Uses: the tubers are used in hemoptysis(lokta ee yaoba);
epistaxis (nahi taba);
pyogenic infection( nai chaba);
scrofula(khaori pomba);
orchitis(inflammation of the testicles);
sprains( saru_kanglee leithokpa) and various infection.

KHONGBAL TAKHELEI

KHONGBAL TAKHELEI:
Botanical Name:Costus speciosus.
place- Common in rural areas of Manipur.
Parts Used:
1: Rhizome (ura manba ma_oo)

*Disease Name: Fever; Jaundice
*Uses: Decoction of rhizome(futlaga machi laothokpa) is used to cure urinary troubles and dissolve stones.
Pounded rhizome(makup makup tana sugairaba) and black pepper are boiled in water and extract is taken orally to treat any kind of body pain.

*Disease Name: Bronchitis,fever,dyspepsia(chaba tumdaba),inflammations,anaemia,rheumatism.
*Uses: It is also used as tonic. It has anthelmintic(thibong thirilda leiba til hatnaba hidak), depurative(to make free from impurities) and aphrodisiac(arousing sexual desire) properties.
Root is also used in skin diseases. and snake bites.

MONSHAOBI

MONSHAOBI:
Botanical name: Chenopodium album Linn.
Parts used: Whole plant.
@ MEDICAL INFORMATION:
* dysease Name: Dyspepsia (chaba tumdaba); Leucoderma ( angouba pakpa).
* Uses: Plant is:
-carminative(puk nungsit kaba hanthahanba hidak):
-laxative(khong hamba yadaba hidak);
-anthelmintic(thibong thirilda leiba til hatnaba hidak);
-diuretic(yung henna hannaba hidak); and
-tonic(hakchang hengatnaba natraga tekkhatnaba oina).
¤ used in peptic ulcer; dyspepsia; seminal weakness and liver enlarged; served as blood purifier.
(N.B: rich in Iron, stimulant to spleen disorders..
But; this plant grows in the areas where NO3 conc. is high. Leaves tend to accumulate NO3 bcoz uptake exceeds reduction (NO3----NH3---NH2---amino acids/amino sugars) and assimilation. Frequent consumption will hamper ur renal function. So dietary nitrate might react with dietary amines to form carcinogenic nitrosamines. Methemoglobinemia and cyanosis in infants. )
