Happiness

One is born in a first class hospital, the other is delivered at home, both survived.

One went to a private primary school and the other to a public school, both  ended in the same high school.

One woke up from the bed and the other woke up on the floor, both had a peaceful sleep.

One has expensive attire, the other simple and cheap, both still cover their body.

One ate fried rice and roasted chicken, the other ate home made rice n dal but both filled their hunger.

One drives a Lexus, the other uses public transport but both reached their destination.

One may be reading this post from a Sony xperia, BB Z10, Q10, Samsung Galaxy 6edge, IPhone6+ and the other on an ordinary Smart phone, but all can see the same message.

Lifestyle is not a competition, various lanes lead to the same destination.

Just because our neighbour has amassed material posessions, it does not mean that we are a failure.

Happiness doesn't come from having everything, but making the best out of what we have, it's all about how we see ourselves.

Happiness is not having what we like. Happiness is liking what we have and learning to make the most of it by giving it!!!

Happiness is a state of mind !!

HIGHEST TRIBUTE TO COMRADE FIDEL CASTRO

HIGHEST TRIBUTE TO COMRADE FIDEL CASTRO:

GREAT LEADER OF THE CUBAN REVOLUTION,
INSPIRATION TO THE PEOPLES OF THE WORLD

By Prof. Jose Maria Sison, Chairperson, International League of Peoples Struggle, November 26, 2016

We, in the International League of Peoples’ Struggle, express our most heartfelt condolences to the Castro family, the Cuban people, the Communist Party of Cuba and government of Cuba over the passing away of Comrade Fidel Castro, the great revolutionary leader of the Cuban people and founder of the Communist Party of Cuba.
We pay the highest tribute to him for leading the revolutionary struggles of his people and achieving great victories in upholding national sovereignty and independence, advancing the cause of socialism, contributing to the worldwide struggles for national and social liberation and inspiring the people of the world to persevere in the struggle for socialism and communism against US imperialism and all reaction.
The greatness of the Cuban revolution under the leadership of Fidel Castro is immediately recognized by considering the fact that Cuba is a small country that is only 90 miles away from the US and yet the Cuban people have succeeded in liberating themselves from this imperialist monster, in defeating its aggressive actions such as that in the Bay of Pigs, countering the threat of nuclear attack, frustrating countless acts of sabotage and the hundreds of assassination attempts on Fidel Castro and prevailing over the most sustained embargo ever waged by US imperialism against any country.
The Cuban revolution has been victorious because of the correspondence of Fidel Castro’s indomitable revolutionary spirit, mastery of strategy and tactics, daring and perseverance to the needs and demands of the Cuban people and their determination to fight and win when aroused, organized and mobilized. As a university student of law from a landed family, Fidel Castro sided with the oppressed and exploited people, opposed the brutal and corrupt dictatorship of Batista and founded an underground revolutionary socialist group called The Movement.
The Movement launched an attack on the Moncada barracks on July 26, 1953. It failed as a military operation but it succeeded in sparking the spirit of resistance among the youth and people. Fidel Castro together with many other participants in the Moncada attack were arrested. Imprisonment gave him the chance to read revolutionary works, including those of Marx, Lenin and Marti. His speech in court, “History Will Absolve Me”, became a powerful piece of propaganda.
Castro was released from prison in 1955 and left Cuba for Mexico. He regrouped The Movement and eventually renamed it as the July 26 Movement in honor of the Moncada attack. With his Argentine comrade Ernesto “Che” Guevara and others, he set sail for Cuba on the Granma in order to wage guerrilla warfare against the Batista regime. Under his strategic direction, the few guerrillas grew from small to big, from weak to strong, by destroying the 5000-troop backbone of the Batista army piece by piece at the Sierra Maestra.
In coordination with the revolutionary mass movement in the urban areas, the July 26 Movement won total victory on January 1, 1959. Fidel Castro proclaimed victory and proceeded to transform Cuba by ending Batista’s rule of terror, carrying out land reform and wealth redistribution, eliminating illiteracy and expanding education, realizing universal health care of high quality and providing other social services. He nationalized US-owned companies, refineries and land and thus earned the wrath of the almighty USA.
The US Central Intelligence Agency launched the Bay of Pigs invasion of 1961. This was thoroughly defeated and the revolutionary prestige of Castro and the Cuban revolution resounded throughout the world. Next came the 1962 Missile Crisis which exposed the vulnerabilities of the US to Soviet nuclear power on various geographic scales during the Cold War. It is estimated that Castro himself became the target of at least 638 assassination attempts and Cuba to countless destabilization attempts, aside from the relentless economic, trade and financial embargo.
Under the leadership of Fidel Castro, the revolutionary proletariat and people of Cuba have stood out as the most formidable revolutionary force inspiring the people of Latin America to fight for national independence, democracy and socialism against US imperialism. They have not wavered in taking the road of anti-imperialist resistance even during the “special period” when drastic adjustments had to be made in the face of the disintegration of revisionist regimes in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union no less.
Up to recent times, they have cooperated with Venezuela and other Latin American countries in building the ALBA (Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas) in accordance with the principles of social welfare and mutual economic aid and in opposition to imperialist and reactionary policies, especially neoliberalism, subversion and military intervention. They are known for outstanding policies and acts of internationalism not only in Latin America but also on a far wider scale.
They have played a major role in the tricontinental movement of anti-imperialist governments and peoples earlier inspired by the Bandung Conference and then by the Non-Aligned Movement. Under the direction of Fidel Castro, Cuba played a major role in fighting the forces of imperialism, colonialism and neocolonialism. As an outstanding example, Cuban troops frustrated the armed forces of the South African apartheid regime and made way for the national independence of the people of South Africa. In several countries, Cuban doctors, agricultural specialists and teachers have helped on humanitarian missions.
When Fidel Castro became seriously ill in July 2006, he relinquished his presidential duties to the vice president Raul Castro, his revolutionary comrade and brother.. As soon as he regained physical strength, he wrote letters and articles on global issues and continued to influence Cuban policy. At the final session of the 7th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party on April 19, 2016, he referred to his ripe age of 90 and declared, “This may be one of the last times that I speak in this room, but the ideas of the Cuban communists will remain as proof that on this planet, by working with fervor and dignity, we can produce the material and cultural wealth that humans need”.
Fidel Castro will always be remembered as a great revolutionary leader who held his ground in Cuba, accomplished what was possible and continued to fight for the cause of national and social liberation, for socialism and for the ultimate goal of communism despite the dismal conditions resulting from the betrayal of socialism by the modern revisionists, the collapse of the Soviet Union and the subsequent ideological, political, economic and military offensives of the US and its imperialist allies. He understood that we are now in a period of unprecedented worsening of capitalist crisis and inter-imperialist wars in transition to a new upsurge of revolutionary struggles on a global scale.###

Why RBI is issuing ₹2000 Rupees Notes

*why RBI is issuing ₹2000 Rupees Notes *

The Rs 2000 currency is designed keeping in mind to eradicate the black money issues using state of the art indigenous nano technology, every Rs. 2000 currency note is embedded with a *NGC (Nano GPS Chip)*

*How the embeded NGC Technology Works?*
The unique feature of the NGC is it dosent need any power source. It only acts as a signal reflector. When a Satellite sends a signal requesting location the NGC reflects back the signal from the location, giving precise location coordinates, and the serial number of the currency back to the satellite, this way every NGC embedded currency can be easily tracked & located even if it is kept 120 meters below ground level. The NGC cant be tampered with or removed without damaging the currency note

*How will this help eradicate black money menace?*
Since every NGC embeded currency can be tracked. The satellite can identify the exact amount of money stored at a certain location. If a relatively high concentration of currency is found a certain location for a longer period of time at suspicious locations other than banks & other financial institutions. The information will be passed on to the Income Tax Department for further investigation

*Just a beginning of the end of black money in India*

*Trump's first day at the Oval Office after being elected President.*
First briefing by the CIA, Pentagon, FBI:
Trump: We must destroy ISIS immediately. No delays.
CIA: We cannot do that, sir. We created them along with Turkey, Saudi, Qatar and others.
Trump: The Democrats created them.
CIA: We created ISIS, sir. You need them or else you would lose funding from the natural gas lobby.
Trump: Stop funding Pakistan. Let India deal with them.
CIA: We can't do that.
Trump: Why is that?
CIA: India will cut Balochistan out of Pak.
Trump: I don't care.
CIA: India will have peace in Kashmir. They will stop buying our weapons. They will become a superpower. We have to fund Pakistan to keep India busy in Kashmir.
Trump: But you have to destroy the Taliban.
CIA: Sir, we can't do that. We created the Taliban to keep Russia in check during the 80s. Now they are keeping Pakistan busy and away from their nukes.
Trump: We have to destroy terror sponsoring regimes in the Middle East. Let us start with the Saudis.
Pentagon: Sir, we can't do that. We created those regimes because we wanted their oil. We can't have democracy there, otherwise their people will get that oil - and we cannot let their people own it.
Trump: Then, let us invade Iran.
Pentagon: We cannot do that either, sir.
Trump: Why not?
CIA: We are talking to them, sir.
Trump: What? Why?
CIA: We want our Stealth Drones back. If we attack them, Russia will obliterate us as they did to our buddy ISIS in Syria. Besides we need Iran to keep Israel in check.
Trump: Then let us invade Iraq again.
CIA: Sir, our friends (ISIS) are already occupying 1/3rd of Iraq.
Trump: Why not the whole of Iraq?
CIA: We need the Shi'ite govt of Iraq to keep ISIS in check.
Trump: I am banning Muslims from entering US.
FBI: We can't do that.
Trump: Why not?
FBI: Then our own population will become fearless.
Trump: I am deporting all illegal immigrants to south of the border.
Border patrol: You can't do that, sir.
Trump: Why not?
Border patrol: If they're gone, who will build the wall?
Trump: I am banning H1B visas.
USCIS: You cannot do that.
Trump: Why?
Chief of Staff: If you do so, we'll have to outsource White House operations to Bangalore. Which is in India.
Trump (sweating profusely by now): What the hell should I do as President???
CIA: Enjoy the White House, sir! We will take care of the rest!

Tipu Sultan was a secular internationalist

Today is the birth anniversary of the great Tipu Sultan (10 November 1750 - 4 May 1799)

Tipu Sultan was a secular internationalist.

History is unkind to Tipu Sultan. The fact is that Tipu cannot be reduced to a singular narrative or tradition of intolerance or bigotry as he represented multiple traditions.

Tipu Sultan combined tolerant inter-religious traditions, liberal and secular traditions, anti-colonialism and internationalism. He could do this as he had strong roots in Sufism, which is not explored much by historians. He belonged to the Chisti/Bande Nawaz tradition of Sufism.

Tipu Sultan was radical in more than one sense. He was the first to ban consumption of alcohol in the entire State, not on religious grounds, but on moral and health grounds. He went to the extent of saying: “A total prohibition is very near to my heart.”

Tipu Sultan is credited with introducing missile or rocket technology in war.

Tipu Sultan was the first to introduce sericulture to the then Mysore state.

Tipu Sultan was the first to confiscate the property of upper castes, including Mutts, and distribute it among the Shudras. He is also credited with sowing the seeds of capitalist development at a time when the country was completely feudal.

Tipu Sultan thought about constructing a dam across the Cauvery in the present-day location of Krishnaraja Sagar.

Tipu Sultan completed the task of establishing a biodiversity garden named Lal Bagh.

Tipu Sultan's tolerance is reflected in his annual grants to no less than 156 temples, which included land deeds and jewellery.

His army was largely composed of Shudras.

When the famed Sringeri Mutt, established by Shankaracharya, was invaded by the Maratha army, Tipu Sultan issued a firman to provide financial assistance for reinstallation of the holy idol and restoring the tradition of worship at the Mutt. His donation to the famous Srikanteshwara temple at Nanjangud; the donation of 10,000 gold coins to complete temple work at Kanchi; settling the disputes between two sects of priests at the Melkote temple; and gifts to Lakshmikanta temple at Kalale are all well-known.

Interestingly, Srirangapatna, a temple town, remained his permanent capital till the end of his rule.

Tipu Sultan was also instrumental in constructing the first-ever church in Mysuru.

Incidentally, well-known historian B.A. Saletore calls him “defender of Hindu Dharma”.

The allegation of forcible conversions has to be seen in the background of political exigencies — either they were with the colonialists such as in the case of Christians of Dakshina Kannada, or were waging a protracted guerrilla war as in the case of Coorg. Here, historians have distorted the facts by reducing political exigencies to the “communal ideology” of Tipu.

A ruler, who once identified himself with the American and French Revolution and Jacobinism, has remained an enigma to many. That a man who ruled for just 16 years continues to haunt Hindutva groups obviously means that Tipu continues to exist in the political discourses, political narratives as well as in the imagination of nation-building. This is where the irony of history lies — one cannot just bury Tipu in the annals of history.

The New Hope

Today on your fields is strewn
The blood of your sons
To merge with your soil
That it may be nourished
For seasons forthcoming
O green #Phige_clad Mother
O beloved Manipur !

Smoke shrouds
Your sky
Ceaselessly rising
From the pyres of your sons
Smoke shrouds
Your sky,
Blown asunder
By the unfettered wind
It spreads
All over your sky

To pour forth as rain
In every corner
Of your hills and valleys
The seeds of the past
Now slumbering
Shall be awakened afresh,
New sprouts shall spring up
On your vast fields and fallow lands.

One day at dawn
In the sun’s crimson rays
Your old faded clothes
Shall be changed anew
Your favoured ritual attire
Shall be sprinkled
With golden hue.

~ Arambam Samarendra ~

India a Democracy or Dictatorship state

Did the number of State Sponsor Arm Forces and the Power of the State directly proportional to each other?
In a Democratic State the solution of everything should be with the Debate, Not by the bullets of gun.
Democracy is where the people itself appoint the government.
In a Militarized state the solution of everything is to be with the Power of Gun.

THANG TA ARTIST SINAM DEVABRATA

Oja Sinam Devabrata Singh was born in 1939 at Keishamthong Laishom Leirak, Imphal, son of late Sinam Krishnamohan. Shri Devabrata Singh started learning Thang-ta from his maternal uncle at 12 years of age. Subsequently, he received training in Thang-ta from many distinguished Masters in the field of Thang-Ta such as late L. Ibungohal Singh, Paonam Tonsana Singh (Youngest son of Paona Brajabashi, hero of Anglo Manipuri War of Khongjom), P. Manikchand Singh and Padmashri N. Khelchandra Singh.

Over the last five decades, Shri Devabrata Singh has dedicated himself entirely for popularizing the art of Thang-Ta. He represents the "Paona" style of Thang-ta, which is named after Paona Brajabasi, the legendary hero of the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891, but also is proficient in other styles such as Poila (Ningthoukhongja Poila).
In 1977 Oja Devabrata Singh founded the HULA Sindamsang, a research and training institute of Martial Arts, the first school to unite the collective knowledge of many diverse branches of Thang-Ta. "HULA" is a combination of HUyen LAllong, indicating that the curriculum includes not just martial arts, but health, culture, healing and spiritual arts.

Ojha Devabrata Singh invited the Gurus of other schools to participate in his effort to preserve this knowledge of HULA for future generations. During this time, Oja Devabrata Singh continued to develop his skill and knowledge in various ways. For example, he traveled from village to village studying Mukna. He learned from such renowned masters as Oja Dulopmacha of Kumbi and Ojah Ibetombi of Toubul.

In summer 1980, Sensei Moses Tilak (who passed away in 2004 at Madras - Chennai) visited Imphal during the National Karate Championship and was inspired to do research and study Kalarippayat and Silambam (the native martial arts of his home region, Kerala ) after meeting with Guru Devabrata Singh.

Oja Devabrata is the first teacher to demonstrate Thang-Ta at the international level, at the Indian Culture Centre at Cheiri, Italy in 1988, and at the Festival of India in China 1994. His school participated in Festival of India in U.K. 1985, in France 1985, Festival of India in U.S.A. in 1986, International Seminar on Theatre, Dance and Martial Arts at Calcutta in 1987 (the first of its kind), in the Festival of India at Sweden 1987 and Germany 1991 and Festival of India at China in 1994.
In the Calcutta Seminar (1987) he taught a week-long workshop with such prestigious attendees as Sensei Henry Smith, Dr Michael Malisweski, Prof Dwight Tatsko and Prof Andrew Tsubaki (Sensei 5th dan Joudan Ki who passed away December 2009) . His student participated in the World Conference of Martial Arts at Washington in 1997, at the prestigious International Workshop Festival "Way of the Warrior" at U.K. and Germany 1998 and Festival of Cervantes in Mexico, Venezuela and Argentina etc. Four selected student artistes of Oja Devabrata also participated at the 8th International Theatre Festival, Germany in 1999.

One of his senior-most students founded the "North American Thang-Ta Association", by affiliating to the HULA SINDAMSANG, Imphal, since May 1998 and is now in charge of the said school as the Head Instructor.

The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Janpath, New Delhi, entrusted Oja Devabrata Singh for a Research Project on "Thang-Ta" the Martial Arts of Manipur in 1992. The outcome of the said project had already been submitted to the IGNCA in the form of a voluminous monograph.

Oja Devabrata Singh was nominated as member of the Manipur State Kala Akademi's General Council from April 1996 to March, 2003. Oja Devabrata Singh was also nominated as a member of the North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur from April 1999 for a term of three years.
He was also acted as an expert committee member in the field of Thang-Ta, for the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Department of Culture and the Manipur State Kala Akademi for more than a decade.

Last but not the least Oja Devabrata Singh was given privilege of composing for a group display of Thang-Ta for the 5th National Games Closing Ceremony, held at Imphal in February, 1999.

He had a researched in the lesser known aspects of the art under the guidance of the renowned expert Padmashree N. Khalchandra Singh. He has also participated in Manipuri Films and Theatre as Thang-Ta expert.

Oja Devabrata Singh received the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his contribution to Thang-Ta in the international stage in the year 1992.

Who should be a World Leader among these 3

Who should be a World Leader among these 3?

Mr A - He had friendship with bad politicians, consults astrologers, two wives, chain smoker, drinks eight to 10 times a day.

Mr B - He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps till noon, used opium in college & drinks whiskey every evening.

Mr C - He is a decorated war hero,a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, drinks an occasional beer and never cheated on his wife.

You would want Mr.C to be d leader.

But..

Mr. A was Franklin Roosevelt!

Mr. B was Winston Churchill!!

Mr C Was ADOLF HITLER!!!

Strange but true..

Its risky to judge anyone by his habits !

Pradeep Narwal who recently resigned from the post of Joint Secretary JNU Unit of ABVP writes an open letter to the Prime Minister of India

Pradeep Narwal, who recently resigned from the post of Joint Secretary, JNU Unit of ABVP writes an open letter to the Prime Minister of India. Pradeep who has shared this letter exclusively with Apnee Gali says that he is disappointed by the manner in which the government is treating the ongoing JNU row.

To,
Shri Narendra Modi
The Honorable Prime Minister of India.
Respected sir,
I, Pradeep Narwal, student of JNU, want to bring to your kind notice the issues which are challenging the progressive, democratic and constitutional culture of our country. Sir I am from Haryana, I was part of ABVP but I quit this organization recently. The inaction and negligence that led to the death of Rohith Vemula and potraying JNU as anti national forced me to take this decision.
Sir, in the case of Rohith Vemula, I have strong reservation against the Minister of State’s intervention in university matters. I personally feel a university is an independent space and political persons and their opinions should have no space and role in governing university matters.
Sir, it appears that the government is not solving our issues but making these more complex by supporting some sections . Like in Rohith Vemula case, a Minister of State supported ABVP.
Sir, I am from rural background. When I joined JNU my mother asked me about this university , I replied to her , that JNU is one of the best institutions of India but now she is asking me after these media reports “ Is it the same JNU you were telling me?”
I don’t have an answer. Sir, today there are some factions holding flag in the name of nationalism in their hands and crying to kill students without any reasons.
They are crying to kill their own students. Sir, the situation becomes shameful and unfortunate when the fourth estate of the democracy, the media which connects people gets thrashed inside our court premises. When lawyer , whose duty is to defend the democratic structure of the nation manhandle people in front of courts.
Sir, the most disheartening is the role of police in this whole case. Kanhaiya Kumar who is under trial in court was attacked and assaulted and that too in the presence of police.
Sir, I have many questions in my mind,:
What is the duty of the Police?
1. Is it to protect the people of this country or defend a particular ideology?
2. Are they to help the people of nation or a particular political interest.
Sir, I want to request you to intervene in this issue and ensure proper working of police system without any bias.
Sir, I want you to ensure zero political intervention in educational institutes, ensure respect for every JNU student, and ensure security to every JNU student.

Jai Hind

Hon'ble Sir,
Greetings from Manipur where the Indian National Flag was hoisted for the first time in India on 14 April, 1944. I am not a political person but a Social Worker working in the field of social issues in Manipur to bring peace, prosperity , communal harmony in Manipur.
You may be aware of the proud history of Manipur as a sovereign kingdom with unbroken history from 1445 BC till 27 April, 1891 and as a princely state from 1891 till 15 October, 1949 when Manipur was forcibly merged to India. The Government of India had committed a series of historical blunders during 1947-1950 which are beyond the scope of international laws and which remained as a source of conflicts with the Government of India and the people of Manipur. The present policy of the Government of India appeasing Naga underground (NSCN-IM) sacrificing the vital interest of Manipur added fuel to the burning ethnic conflict in Manipur . This is definitely not a wise policy of the Government of India. .
In this connection , you may kindly refer to the statement of G.K. Pillai, the then Union Home Secretary, which was published on 27 September, 2011 in the Telegraph newspaper. According to him, the repeal of the draconian act AFSPA -1958 was one of the first steps towards resolving the vexed conflict of Manipur's valley and hills. He said that " the ancient kingdom of Manipur had a constitution even before India wrote her own and had a proud history and was overnight turned into a C-category state in 1948. He further added " we have to build trust by dealing with the core issues An apology , say by the Prime Minister or the Home Minister, for the past mistakes could be a start. ". Kumari Irom Chanu Sharmila has been undergoing " Fasting unto death" for the last 14 years for repeal of AFSPA whereas Gandhiji's longest fast was 21 days.
We feel that an apology is not sufficient. The historical blunders which led to illegal annexation of Manipur to India generate a sense of betrayal in the psyche of youths of Manipur today . G.K. Pillai said " Naga political problem in the hills and the Meitei militancy were intricately enmeshed. It was after Nagaland was formed that the United National Liberation Front (UNLF), the oldest Meitei insurgent group in Manipur was formed in 1964.". In fact Nagaland state was created by the Government of India from a village republic with no written history when Manipur with a written history of 2000 years was denied of Statehood till 1972.
The recent statement of the Union Home Minister that the Government of India will continue the implementation of AFSPA as per wishes of the Indian Army amounts to handing over the administration of Manipur to the Army.
If it is so, why not the Indian Government impose AFSPA on Maoist and Naxalite infested states like Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. Why do the Indian Government choose to impose AFSPA selectively in some states like Manipur, Kashmir . Is there any hidden agenda ?
If the Government of India genuinely wants a long lasting solution bringing peace, prosperity ,development and communal harmony of Manipur, you may kindly consider to come out with some concrete solutions in the form of constitutional amendments .

1. The Instrument of Accession signed by Maharajah Bodhchandra of Manipur on 11 August, 1947 was never ratified by the Manipur Constituent Assembly and therefore not valid. In case of Jammu and Kashmir , the Instrument of Accession was ratified on February 15, 1954.
2. According to the Government of India Act-1935 (6), (9) , as soon as may be after any Instrument of Accession or Supplementary Instrument has been accepted by His Majesty under this section , copies of the Instrument and His Majesty's acceptance thereof shall be laid before the Parliament and all courts shall take judicial notice of every such instrument and acceptance. But there are no records of the accepted copies of the Instrument of Accession of Manipur having laid down before the Parliament and all courts of India ?
3. Signing of Merger agreement on 21 September, 1949 was done by deceit, coercion, intimidation and forceful tactics contrary to international laws when India claimed to be a democratic country. Even after signing the Instrument of Accession, Manipur did not lose her sovereignty as the Union Government was to look after Defence, External affairs and Communications. The signing of the Manipur Merger Agreement was therefore between a sovereign state called Manipur and the Government of India. It should therefore be free from coercion or intimidation , force or undue pressure. What the Government of India did was nothing but coercion , intimidation under house arrest with a large no. of security personnel.
4. The 4th sitting of the 3rd session of the Manipur State Assembly in its session held at the Johnston School on 28th September, 1949 at 2.30.p.m. in protest against the "Merger Agreement signed on 21st September 1949" declared the Merger Agreement was invalid as the powers and authorities of Maharaja had been vested with the State Assembly . The excerpt of the Assembly proceedings was published in the Manipur State Gazette, part IV, dated 14 October 1949. Mr. T.C. Tiankham Speaker , Mr. M. K, Priyobarta Singh, Chief Minister amd 6 other Ministers and Hon'ble 43 Members were present and adopted the resolution .
The copies of the declaration signed by P.B. Singh, Chief Minister, T.C. Tiankham, Speaker, Arambam Ibungotomcha Singh, Minister of Finance and Foreign Affairs. was sent to the Government of India. But there is no reply on this issue during the last 65 years.
5.Once Manipur became part of the India, the Government of India dissolved the State's Constitution Assembly in October, 1949 without repealing the Manipur Constitution Act-1947. This is another blunder The Government of India placed Manipur under "Part C State". This was considered a disgrace to the state and the people of Manipur. Further it was degraded to the status of the union territory from 1956 onwards. In 1972, Manipur was elevated to the status of a state (or province) after a long and protracted struggle. Nagaland was raised from a village republic to Statehood on1 December, 1963 as a part of appeasement policy of the Government of India towards the Naga underground movement. Manipuris took it as an gross insult to the state and the people of Manipur perpetuated by the Government of India
In case of Jammu and Kashmir, Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India had allowed to have
(1) a special status under Article 370 of Indian Constitution in spite of so many oppositions (Ambedkar refused to prepare a draft of Article 370)
(2) a separate constitution
(3) a separate flag
(4) a separate state emblem to appease his half brother Sheikh Abdulla, who was just a school teacher.
In case of Manipur, he had done many things, which was detrimental to the general interest of Manipur people. His small statue at Imphal constantly reminded the people about the blunders he had committed to the people. The existing Article 371C of the Indian Constitution is found to be extremely discriminatory and the source of all communal conflicts in Manipur which needs to be amended. We feel that you may be aware that the Indian Constitution was imposed on Manipur.
Manipur did not participate in the Indian Constitutional debate held during 9th december,1946 to 24th January ,1950. It was never ratified by the then Manipur State Assembly. Manipur never asked the Government of India for constitutional amendment during the last 65 years. Among all the problems of Manipur, constitutional amendment to bring about communal harmony, unity, equality and solidarity among all ethnic groups of Manipur is the no.-1 priority.
Considering these points, I would like to request you kindly to find a permanent cure to these past blunders in Manipur and consider amendment of the Indian Constitution with the following provisions :-
1. The Article 3 of Indian Constitution regarding alteration of state boundaries shall not apply in respect of Manipur to protect the 2000 year old territorial integrity of Manipur. The last experience of Telengana State formation with the blessings of Sonia Gandhi bypassing the state assembly was a very bad example.
2. The Union List and Concurrent list under the Indian Constitution pertaining to Manipur shall be taken up by the Government of India only with the concurrence of the State Legislative Assembly
3. Since 90% of Manipur is hill area, Manipur may be declared as a Hill State
4. All the ethnic groups in Manipur may be brought under an uniform civil code
5. All the ethnic groups in Manipur may be brought under an uniform Land Laws
6. Any person from other states of India will be allowed to purchase lands only with the approval of the State Government to protect the indigenous people of Manipur
7. Any person from other states of India shall need an "Inner Line Permit" to enter Manipur on payment of nominal fees to protect the identity, culture, traditions, language, script of the Manipuris . Manipur welcomes all people from other states to visit Manipur .
8. The Pakhangba –Sanamahi religion and other Tribal religions which are the indigenous religions of Manipur will be recognized as the other religions of the State.
9. The Constitution should provide establishment of an upper house (Legislative Council) with a minimum of 40 members with 10 seats reserved for nomination.
10 The Number of Rajya Sabha MPs should be increased to seven (7) on the basis of equal representation of states as done in USA and other countries. Large and small states should be treated at par in the Rajya Sabha or Council of States.
11. The Manipuri script ( Meitei Mayek) should be included in the coins and currency bank notes
12. The followers of Pakhangba –Sanamahi religion may be put under " Scheduled Tribe category" of the Indian Constitution to restore equality among the ethnic groups.
If you kindly consider these amendments and implement successfully , more than 90% of the problems of Manipur will subside.
Thanking you,
Hon'ble Sir with kind regards,
(Dr. Khomdon Singh Lisam)

The Spirit of Women

When I heard the story of Gautam Buddha, my question was always about his wife and son that he left behind...this write-up by Vikram Bhattacharya touches that part of the story
---------------

He left her in the middle of the night, the night their son was
born. When she heard the news
she was devastated.

Yet, she did not complain but her
life lost all meaning. The only
reason for her to live now was
her son. She wanted him to grow
up to be a man that the world
would look up to.

Her friends and relatives came
around and asked her to forget
about the man who had left her
and start life again.

They asked her to marry again
but she refused. She was young
& beautiful & suitors queued up
outside her door, but she refused each one of them.

Then one fine day he came back !

He stood in front of her and she could hardly remember him as the man who had left her. “They call you the Buddha now?” she asked him gently.

“I hear they do,” he answered in
a calm fashion.

“What does it mean?” she further inquired.

“I think it means the enlightened one, a knower,” he informed.

She smiled and then a silence.
“I suppose we have both learned something. Your lessons O Buddha, will make the world richer in spirit, but my lesson will unfortunately remain largely unknown.”
she reflected deeply....

“ And what lesson is that ? ”
The Buddha probed.

Her eyes sparkled with unshed tears, “That a courageous woman does not need anyone to complete her.....
SHE IS COMPLETE ON HER OWN ”

Saluting womanhood for the Yashodhara spirit.
